I wrote myself a note at eight years young, stating I will be a CEO of a company, and/or own my own company, little did I know that here we are!

The date was January 19, 2023 (my mother's birthday) and this was my first business trip for the new year.  I had a night flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta to Wichita, Kansas.  For those of you who know me, I enjoy evening/early morning flights, and I love to fly; it's my jam!  I had NO clue this flight was going to forever change my life.  The plane was packed, overhead bins were full and closed; there was one seat left - the middle seat next to me.  For whatever reason, I had no time of day for this flight nor this trip.  A young lady comes up to me with two bags looking extremely nervous and frantic.  She asked me where she should put her bags.  I was very short with her and told her to get a flight attendant to help.

She sat down in the middle seat with a huge sigh of stress.  I took a deep breath, and thought to myself, Kristin, put yourself into her shoes.  As I slowly did that, I started talking with her. The day before this flight, her original flight was cancelled due to weather, and she missed all her other connecting flights. She was traveling to Atlanta (an airport she was unfamiliar with) to Rome, Italy and then to travel about an hour East of Rome to teach English to a small Italian village.  We talked the entire two-hour flight to Atlanta.  When we landed in Atlanta, I asked if she needed help getting to her gate.  I explained to her the tram and what gate she needs to be at for her flight to Rome.  As we got off the plane, she couldn't thank me enough for talking through things with her, we hugged each other, and she asked if I had any last-minute advice.

This is what I told her:  "As you explore life and new cultures, make sure you get off of your phone, take it all in, embrace it all and always look up."  We parted ways and as I turned around and walked away, I looked back with tears coming down and said out loud, THAT is the name of my company - LookUp.

I founded LookUp, LLC in 2024 where I am the Founder and CEO with deep roots and passions for helping people grow and develop, coaching people, teams and organizations, and helping YOU succeed.
